Beach Wrestling Spring 2008
Newsletter
Wrestlers,
Now is the time to be preparing for 2008-09, we improved a lot last year, and now we need to start looking towards next year, and taking the next step up. We have a lot of different things going on here is a list of what we should be doing.
If you are out for a spring sport there are a couple of things that I request, is that you keep up with weightlifting whether here at school or outside of school. If you don't have practice on Sunday, go to Shore Thing whenever you can.
Weightlifting- Monday, Wednesday, Friday- Oklahoma Drill should take about 30-40 minutes. Instructions are on the wall, complete two sets of the drill. If you have a membership at Gold's or somewhere else that's fine but I still want you in our weight room every Monday, Wednesday, and Fri.
Shore Thing- You can go whenever you want. Try to go as much as possible. If you are out for a spring sport, go whenever you can. I believe strongly in what Shore Thing can do for our team. Just look at the success Vinnie Santanello has had in the states. During the summer we have our own clinic series, so during the summer I would rather have all of you with us, but if there is a particular night you would rather go to Shore Thing, we can discuss it.
Spring Tournaments- We will be holding 2 tournaments, May 10-intermediate grades, and May 17- we are still trying to make this a USA freestyle qualifier, if it isn't a qualifier it will still be a freestyle tournament. On May 10, I need everyone to help out working the tournament. If you are out for a spring sports you can come to both and help out by working the tournament. This is a fund raiser for our program so I need everyone to help out on May 10 and wrestle on May 17(Unless you are out for a spring sport)
Team Camps- We are going to two team camps-TCN J-June 25-28 and Rutgers-July 13-17. I have the forms for TCNJ, you got them today, Rutgers is sending me forms, so I will mail those to you For TCNJ, I will need the checks and forms by May 1. If you have trouble paying for either camp please contact me.
Summer Wrestling- Tuesday/Thursday clinic sessions every week during the summer up until the fall sports practices begin. July 1 -August 7. There won't be any sessions while we are at the Rutgers during that entire week.
I am not asking more of you than going to the team camps and our weekly sessions, Coaches- O'Cone, Nase, and DeMarco will be instructing, as well as, our own coaching staff. If you want to do more- there are tournaments throughout the summer- team duals (I can get you on a team if you are interested)- Shore Thing. These are up to you but we need to go to the camps and have our weekly clinics.
You also have a list of all other regional and national tournaments. Please make sure your parents see this newsletter.
Yours in wrestling,
Coach Sasse
